The Schwielowsee region

Schwielowsee, located just outside Potsdam, is no longer an insider tip for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. The four communities of Caputh, Ferch, Geltow, and Petzow nestle along its shores, each an idyllic setting in its own right and offering an ideal destination.

Boatmen and fruit growers have Caputh Geschichte geschrieben.

At the southern end of the Schwielowsee you reach the idyllic painter's village of Ferch, with its thatched half-timbered houses, the fisherman's church from the 17th century and the "Havelländischen Malerkolonie“ beckons. The Kulturforum Schwielowsee organizes events such as concerts, lectures, and exhibitions in the districts. It also connects two White Fleet piers.

On the western shore you reach the small village Petzow with its castle, the Lenné Park and the Schinkel Church with its magnificent panoramic view.

On the other side of the Gemünden estuary lies Geltow with its Wildpark West district. It is greeted by the widely visible neo-Gothic brick church. Nearby, a visit to the active and traditional Handweaving Museum with looms over 300 years old. The "Brühl Terraces," named after Fontane Baumgartenbrück, picturesquely situated on the Schwielowsee, as well as the Strandbad Caputh with its romantic sunsets, invite you to linger.

Just a few kilometers away lies the famous Blütenstadt Werder (Havel), which hosts one of Germany's largest folk festivals every year, the Baumblütenfest. Germany's northernmost Weinbaugebiet.

The region can be reached from Berlin via Potsdam.

One of the 30 most beautiful destinations in Brandenburg is the Japanische Bonsaigarten in Ferch.

Ride a bike

Along the shores, beautiful cycling routes such as the Havel Cycle Path and the European Cycle Route R1 invite you to explore by bike. They mostly run along separate, paved paths. Leisurely hiking trails lead around Lake Schwielowsee. Numerous cultural attractions, cafés and restaurants, as well as bicycle- and family-friendly accommodations along the routes, leave nothing to be desired, even for longer excursions.

Our guests who are travelling without a bicycle can use the neighbouring campsite New barn at the Mies family. Rent bikes.
